Mazda 6 2.2 reliability We all know, that Mazda 6 2.2 Skyactiv engines from 2013+ are very problematic. I am planning to buy 2.2 diesel 2018+, at max with 140 000 km (Europe).

vacuum pump. I have a 2015 mazda 6 auto-Nav 2.2 diesel. 98k miles. I have had a "vehicle system malfunction" warning come up, and i have also had a set of disco lights for city brake, traction control, istop , and cruise control fails. These re-set when the vehicle is switched off, but the system warning continues. Good driving position and stacks of room in the back for children, dogs and mud.

The 2.2L RF diesel engine was used in the Ford Ranger pickup truck from 1982-84 (but, ironically, it was never offered in its predecessor, the Courier, which was an actual Mazda derivative sold in the years 1972-82) and was replaced by the Mitsubishi 2.3L turbo diesel for the years 1985-87.

Mazda 6 diesel - Mistake, or not? - mum2atoddler : We purchased a 2.2D CX5 in March. We went into the purchase knowing of the issues regarding the Diesel engine in the past. After the face lift the issues were widely ironed out and in the new model the issues don't arise at all.
There was a new warranty of 2 years on this repair that has been recently over. I was advised to take the car to official Mazda dealer to have a look, and they might send a request to Mazda asking for a free repair. Then I took the car from the service shop and to my surprise there were no warning lights anymore.
The Mazda 2.2 diesel is well known for some serious issues which can lead to very expensive problems, including new engines. Diesel can contaminate the engine oil during DPF regeneration, leading to dilution and this may well be why the turbo failed. Check the engine oil on a weekly basis and if the level is rising it does need to be changed. VO7yXG9.
